Answer: Safety is our foundation. We employ a rigorous 3-step medical screening process, including a confidential health intake and a personal discovery call. During the retreat, you are supported by a high ratio of facilitators trained in first aid and CPR. We operate with strict safety protocols and are located approximately 30 minutes from the 24-hour Hospital José María Hernández in Mocoa for emergency support.
- I’m a beginner. Is this suitable for my first time?
Answer: Yes. MahaDevi is one of the only centers in Colombia to offer Crudo Ayahuasca (Uncooked), a gentler, raw preparation that is easier on the digestion and physical body while maintaining profound spiritual connection. This makes our retreat exceptionally beginner-friendly compared to centers that only offer the intense, traditional cooked brew.
- Who leads the ceremonies?
Answer: Authentic lineage matters. All ceremonies are led by Taita Miguel of the Camsá tribe, an indigenous elder with a 12-generation unbroken lineage. He is supported by our founder Yasha Shah and Ania Halama, bridging the gap between ancestral tradition and modern Western safety standards. You are never left alone in your process.
- What are the accommodations like in Mocoa?
Answer: We offer a balance of immersion and comfort. Unlike deep jungle camps, our venue near Mocoa is in a cooler, "low-mosquito" zone. You can choose between private rooms or shared cabins, all featuring modern showers, electricity, Wi-Fi access, and 24/7 on-site security.
- What happens after the retreat ends?
Answer: We do not believe in "fly-in, fly-out" healing. Our program includes 30 days of structured integration support, a personalized integration manual, and an online group session with a specialist to help you process your experience. You also gain lifetime access to our community of past participants.
- How do I prepare for the retreat?
Answer: Preparation starts the moment you book. You will receive a comprehensive guide on the Dieta (dietary guidelines) and lifestyle adjustments, plus access to our Ayahuasca Framework video portal. We go beyond simple PDFs by including one-on-one preparation guidance and group breathwork sessions to help regulate your nervous system before you even arrive.
